Faced with a severe slope that came within a few feet of the rear of the home this pool design program would require a lot of excavation to artfully place the pool terrace within the slope. Over one thousand cubic yards of soil was carved from the slope before the pool excavation could even begin! Natural granite walls surround the lower dining terrace as well as the pool terrace. The walls were kept at a two feet in height so they could also act as seating. With low retaining walls and with such an existing steep slope, large granite boulders were artfully placed to create a natural aesthetic while supporting planting pockets within the slope. This sloping rock garden provided a perfect canvas for the seasonal plantings.
